I hope everyone had some good downtime to relax with friends and family over the Christmas break?
Over the Christmas and New Year period, we were able to contribute in a small way to the bushfire appeal efforts through our management of claimant travel for Australia’s largest insurance providers.
Our team worked throughout the break and continue to do so, to ensure all those affected by the bushfire crisis have somewhere to stay, transportation and importantly a kind and understanding person to talk to. The stories our team hear are heartbreaking, I am so proud we are able to offer what little comfort we can.
As the claims were pouring in over Christmas, we had consultants from across our entire business putting up their hands to jump in and assist with the inundation of bookings over the weekends, at night and on public holidays. We also had staff fly down to Melbourne to work alongside our client and in conjunction with the Insurance Council of Australia, to coordinate everything that was needed for our Aussies who were part of the evacuation.
For those of our TravelEdgers not working directly with those affected by the fires, they put their hands up for one of our morning tea fundraisers, we baked, we ate, we donated… and for every dollar the team raised, TravelEdge matched it! All funds went directly to the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal and the WWF Bushfire Emergency.
Helloworld, our parent company, were innovative in their donation of 10 truckloads of hay (that’s 2000 bales) and 575,000 litres of water through ‘Buy a Bale’, supporting farmers impacted by the drought and now the bushfires.
Whilst all of this tragedy is going on Australia wide, we understand our very own employees can be affected, even those indirectly impacted can be emotionally shaken. To ensure we look after each other, we have our EAP program available to all employees, and have been working with EAP to ensure we provide our people with the right type of support during this time.
It has been a devastating start to the year, however in these times it is always uplifting to look for the helpers… of which there are so many, here are some links to key charities for anyone who would like to make additional donations;
Whilst we continue to do what we can for those affected, I do look forward to catching up with you all this year.
We have a couple of events coming up in the next few months where I look forward to seeing you all. Firstly, our supplier event held at TravelEdge HQ where we thank you for your ongoing support and cheers to another successful year of partnership.
And our client event, where we get the chance to catch up… on everything! From what’s going on in your world, to what’s happening in ours, an update on the latest industry news, our pipeline of tech and crucially the ability to get your direct feedback of what’s important to you… so we can continue to help you do business better.
If you would like your name on the client event invite list, please reach out to your TravelEdge Account Manager or let me know.
Here’s to another successful year.
