10 Years of TravelEdge

TravelEdge was established by Joint Managing Directors, Sue Hollis and Grant Wilson, in July 2000 and last month it was time to celebrate our 10th birthday.

After working together for many years at Qantas, Sue and Grant dreamed of creating a highly personalised, service focused travel management company and from this ideal, TravelEdge was born.
TravelEdge has come a long way since the first official booking which was made from an office of 5 people with no phones or computers and where meetings took place on a hired board table. Today, TravelEdge has a team of over 90 people based in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, with 3 of the original 5 members still in the family; Sue, Grant and Angela Santelmann.
Over the years TravelEdge has seen great successes and achievements, including a number of business partnerships and highly valued client relationships which have helped the company become what it is today. We are grateful and appreciative of the support of all our clients, especially those who helped get us off the ground in the beginning and those who have continued to work with us over the years.
If asked the question back in 2000 where TravelEdge would be today, neither Sue nor Grant could have predicted the success and growth TravelEdge has achieved. TravelEdge has pushed through and survived great downfalls in the industry like the Ansett crash. We’ve also celebrated great achievements including the opening of our Melbourne office in 2006; establishing our Holidays business in 2001, our events business AbsoluteEdge in 2006 and most recently our travel prizing business, Granted Worldwide, in 2007; and our very own Sue Hollis was nominated for Telstra Businesswoman of the Year in 2007 making it down to the top 5 nominees for NSW.
A key factor in our success is the strong sense of community and people focus that Sue and Grant have instilled in the business since the beginning. Sue and Grant have always treated the people within TravelEdge as a priority; we genuinely care for each other, work hard and have formed some great friendships.
To show our appreciation for Sue and Grant and to congratulate them on coming so far and 10 years of hard work, the TravelEdge team organised a surprise 10th birthday party.
We all worked together to keep the party a secret so that Grant and Sue were completely surprised when the whole office jumped out from behind the reception desk to yell ‘surprise’!
Sue and Grant were very touched and enjoyed the party as we presented them with a “this is your life” style presentation where clients and friends who have been a part of the TravelEdge journey were invited to share their congratulations to Sue and Grant in person or via video.
The night was a great success and Sue and Grant were extremely happy to be sharing their birthday with the whole TravelEdge team.
The last decade has been one of growth and achievement for TravelEdge and we hope the next decade will provide many more memories, achievements, valued friendships and client relationships.
