Qantas has announced that as of 19 November 2010, Avis and Budget will be its official car rental program partners. The change will mean that Thrifty and Hertz will no longer be involved with Qantas and that customers will only earn frequent flyer points on car rentals with Hertz and Thrifty up until 18 November 2010.

The change will allow the airline to work closely with the two brands to deliver more specials and provide the best possible car hire experience for customers.

To get the ball rolling, Qantas, Avis and Budget are offering you the chance to earn 1,000 extra frequent flyer points on Avis and Budget bookings of three days or more.

Alternatively, if you have an existing rental booking with Avis or Budget that is completed before 31 October 2010, ask your TravelEdge consultant for the relevant promotion number to quote when you pick up your car.

To ensure you earn your points, don’t forget to show your Qantas frequent flyer card when you pick up your car.
