Qantas launches Platinum One

Qantas will roll out its most elite frequent flyer status this week with the launch of the new ‘Platinum One’ level.

This level of membership is reserved strictly for the busiest of travellers holding a minimum of 3,600 status credits, the equivalent of 23 trans-Tasman business class trips.

Currently, the peak of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program is ‘Platinum’ membership, which requires just 1,400 status credits for the first year of membership, and 1,200 each year thereafter.

The risk here is that passengers who easily hit that mark may be tempted to shift their travel across to other airlines where they are able to acquire similarly lofty status levels.

The implementation of the ‘Platinum One’ status aims to provide more aspiration for these flyers to fly with Qantas by offering high-touch recognition and service, to ensure members feel appreciated every step of the way.

The full range of benefits on offer to Platinum One frequent flyer members will be revealed later in the week.
